IAC valve

ok i think i got the radiator problem settled but what about the idling problem do you think its is the IAC valve

it always wants to stall when i let my foot off the gas to shift or brake but if im lucky when its warmed up it will stay going but idial at really low rpms like 500-600

It may have a bad MAP sensor. My 1990 Taurus GL did this at first, then got progressively worse to the point that it would stall hot or cold. It's mounted on the firewall. One way of testing it is to put a vacuum pump to it and pump it up to 18 in./hg of vacuum. If it does not hold it is bad. Another way is to backprobe the center terminal of the sensor with a voltmeter, turn the ignition key on and read the voltage. I'd posted the chart a long time ago, but can't find it. Too old a thread I guess.

Don't have MAP sensors. The MAF may be dirty though.

I manually set idle by adjusting the screw with the IAC off. Usually around 500 rpm. Then let the IAC take over to keep it around 750.

Use the throttle stop screw.

i did the throttle thing that didnt work it still stalled when putting in the clutch so i went and bought the iac valve that did the trick thankyou for helping anyways
