Hello everyone,

I have a 2k Taurus SEL DOHC. With the heater on, the idle increases a few RPM's about every 20 seconds or so then returns to normal. This cycle repeats as long as the heater was on. Does the same when driving, and now when I come to a stop, the car wants to, and sometimes does stall. When heater was off, idle problem went away, but now, even when heater is off and stopped at light for example, engine seems to want to stall more often.

I think I can hear a vacume leak, sounds like hissing noise, but can't seem to locate where it's coming from. if anyone else has experienced this problem, could you point me to the proper place/part that needs fixing.

Check PCV / hose .

PCV hose? Not sure what that is. There are many different hoses, which one would that be?

Thanks for the pic. I had the same problem in the past year, but not because of the heater related issue. The PCV hose was torn, replaced it and the issue with stalling was resolved. Thought this might be the same problem again, so I checked that hose and it is not damaged. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I did check what hose's I could see and couldn't identify any leaks, but there seems to be a vacum leak somewhere, I can hear it. Could it be from 1 of the emmission control valves/parts? Last week I found a vacuum hose disconnected it, but while working on car, I disconnected the battery. So I re-connected the hose and battery. Of course, the check engine light was out so couldn't check codes for awhile.

This weekend the CEL was back, after getting code check, found it is "Bank 2 system too lean".

Now where does that leave me?

The PCM stores codes for up to 50 restarts.

Your lean condition can mean a dirty MAF sensor. There is cleaner available for these, as a new replacement can be expensive.

If that doesn't solve it and you're positive all hoses/vac lines are connected I would check the fuel pressure.
