Re: location of keyless entry
This is how you can tell if you have the factory keyless entry if you do not have the keypad on the door on 2000 and newer Taraus and Sable: While sitting in the drivers seat with all doors closed, turn the ignition switch from off to on (but do not start) and then back off and on approximately 6-8 times in a row. If you have the keyless entry module, the locks will now lock automatically. To program a remote, after the locks lock and with the ignition still on, press the lock button on the remote. This programs the remote to the car.
The keyless entry code for the car is located on the GEMs module behind the fuse panel in the drivers footwell. To the left and above the brake pedal under the dash, is the fuse panel. Remove the 2 lower nuts holding the fuse panel to the metal brackets. Pull the bottom of the fuse panel and GEMs module behind it out about 1". Using a small mirror and flashlight, read the 5 digit code on the backside of the GEMs module against the firewall. This sounds harder than it really is, maybe 10 min job. With the master code, you can now program any other number you desire.
