Loud Humming Noise, High Pitched Squeel.
I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. V6 OHC. IN the mornings when I start my car I hear a loud high pitched squeeling sound. The level of the sound seems to be based on acceleration (meaning when I press the gas the sound is increased, when I let off the gas it is decreased) I hear this sound until the car gets fully warmed up and then it goes away until the following morning of if the car has sat somewhere long enough to cool down. Also, may or may not be related I have a very loud humming noise when I turn the steering wheel to the left or right. The steering has not become heavier the sound is just very loud. When the car gets warmed up the sound diminishes quite a bit, but is still there. However, when the car is first started the sound is very loud. Power steering pump? Rack and Pinion?? Cost if one of these??
