gpedens Registered User Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 18	misfire above 4000 rpm Any ideas what the problem might be? I have a 1997 Mercury Sable with a 3.0 L OHV V6 that misfires on the number 1 and/or number 3 cylinders above 4000 rpm. I have ran it in the dark trying to see if any of the plug wires or coil packs are arcing but I saw no visible sparks. The dealer can't find anything wrong. The weather or engine temperature doesn't seem to make any difference in the misfire. Sweetie rarely runs the engine above 3500 rpm so its not a big problem yet.
