frown My Taurus (03) is in the shop every two weeks

What am I doing wrong? 11/8 the cam sensor went bad and I had to have it replaced. 2 weeks later my power steering pump went out and this past weekend my heater core started dumping antifreeze into my passenger side floorboard. This car only has 50,000 miles on it and I have kept up with all the scheduled maintenance. Anyone else had problems like this?

I went with the Taurus because the Escort I had before it (1991) had over 200,000 miles and never needed anything but tires and breaks. According to my mechanic, Ford might have wanted that one back, it was the only good one they ever made.

Basically, I want to know if anyone has back to back problems like this with their Taurus. If I need to get rid of it now, or if this will (hopefully) be the last of it for a while.

Thx in advance.

ETA: I also thought I should mention that EVERY SINGLE Summer since I bought the car I have had to replace the battery. This thing has left me stranded so many times I don't even want to think about it. The only good thing about it eating batteries is that I never have to pay for one because they are always under warranty. To bad the car isn't anymore. It was a program car, I bought it in Feb 04 with 9000 miles on it.

The way it's looking, except for the transmission, you have addressed most of the troublesome issues.

Program Car = Rental Car. Can you imagine how that car was treated before you bought it? The Taurus was probably one of the most popular with the rental car company's, and the market was flooded with lease return's which caused the book value of the Taurus to take a nose dive.

It's a lose/lose situation, do you take a loss to keep it or take a loss to sell it.

In my opinion, I would probably hang on to it. Maybe it will treat you right for awhile. But keep in mind, the transmission is the weak point of the Ford Taurus.

Thanks for the response. A friend of mine knew a guy and I ended up getting it fixed for about $200. The guy is a Mercedes mechanic and now its working great! I hope this will be the last of it for a while. The car is paid for, so I guess any way I look at it, I am still (as of now) spending less than a car payment, even though it has been all at one time. If this thing will run good for the rest of the year, I will feel so much better. When I bought the car the salesman told me the owner of the dealership and a few of the sales guys were the only people who had driven it--but I am sure they will tell you anything to sell a car. ::sigh:: Lesson learned.
