Exclamation new sho owner...ecm question

i heard the taurus sho engine was originally made to have 300 hp but ford tuned it down so it wouldn't outrun the cobra...i was wondering if it would be possible to reprogram the ecm to put it up to the hp the engine could take without blowing the engine...and another thing i heard about people adjusting the cams...they say only adjust them 2 t????what is that...they say if you adjust it more than that the pistons will crush the rods...and if this is possible to adjust the cams how much hp am i looking to gain?thanks

Re: new sho owner...ecm question

Yes, I herd that when first built there was a LOT more HP, Look into a chip to do the reprograming. I understand that the 3.0/3.2 SHO engine are noninterferance engines, so the valves should not get hit by the pistons. Check out SHOforums about retiming the cams, someone there should know more than I.
