I have a '92 Taurus GL and the instrument panel lights do not come on when you turn on the headlights. However if you roll the dash light dimmer switch up until the dome light comes on, the IPL (Instrument Panel Lights) do come on too. This tells me the bulbs are working on the IPL. I have checked the fuse and it is good, I have replaced the headlight switch and I have attempted to trace using electrical diagram in Chilton manual. I find that the elec. diagram is somewhat hard to follow. If anyone has ever had this problem or can give me direction please let me know how you resolved this issue???

I got dame problem on my 91 taurus the solution to that is replacing the dimer switch.

Have you replaced the dimmer switch and it fixed the problem?? Is there a way to check to make sure before buying new dimmer switch?? If you have replaced, how much did your switch cost and did you have to buy from the dealer?

i have't replaced the switch yet but you can remove the switch and see if you can do any ajustment to it that help me a little.
