The cooling fans quit on my brothers '97. Jumped the fans, and they work ok. Replaced the coolant sender. That leaves the CCRM. We took it out to replace it, and the wiring connector shorted a hot to the bail that holds the relay module. A little bitty spark. Put the old CCRM back in to check for any problems caused by the short. Oh, brother!!! Now the starter will not even engage. Checked the power from the battery, it's good. Checked the pink/white to the solenoid, and no power with the key in start position. It gets better. We also have no heat/air cond. blower on any speed. The rear window defogger doesn't work now. The CCRM controls the cooling fans, fuel pump, and a/c clutch. What in the world does the CCRM have to do with the other problems? Checked all fuses with an ohm meter. They are all good. There are two styles of relays under the hood. We swapped relays with like part numbers to try to find a bad one. No luck. Our next step is to cut the roof off of it and plant it full of flowers. Any new ideas would help. Good thing I'm already bald. Thanks.

How about the megafuse? Is it alright?

yea. the mega fuse and all others are good. Nothing blew.

Then you'll have to start testing from the battery on. The start circuit doesn't go through the CCRM. Do you have the wiring diagram for it?

Yea, we have a Haynes and a Chiltons. I see that the column gets a hot from the fuse box under the hood. Goes to the ign. switch, though the neutral start switch, then to the solenoid. The accessory and run positions in the ign. sw. seem to be good. I put my foot on the brake, turned the key to start, and operater the shift lever through it's full range of motion, and still nothing.

Where does the power stop? Does it have power at the ignition switch in the 2 power wires?

I'll have to check it. We didn't get that far. I live in K.C. area and the car is 100 miles south. I'll have to wait til I get down there. I just hoped that there would be some magical wand waving thing I could do before I really tore into it. I sure do appreciate your input, though.
