Here is my problem. Last week I had my taurus, 162,000 miles, in the shop. Now she has been running fine except for noise in engine. The local ford service center told me that it was the water pump going bad and they replaced it along with doin a tune up, cost 915 dollars. When I went to pick up the car after hours, the noise I had was gone only to be replaced by another one. Upset, I took my car back the next day and tech said most likely some coolant got on the belt. (I never had this noise before they got their hands on it.) They brought the car in and said that they say my power steering pump pulley had a chunck taken out of it and they replaced part at no charge. That should have fixed the noise but it didnt. Again, after hours I picked up my car on Saturday and the noise was still there. Assuming that they were correct in the squealing coming from fluid on the belt I have drove till today, Tuesday, but the noise is still there. Again, I never had this problem with her until the shop worked on it. I seriously doubt it would be the belt tensioner because I didnt have the problem before they worked on, unless they damaged it themselves. What could be the problem and the solution to it? THank you.
