Now What??? 97 Sable electrical lemon.
Ever since I bought this car, electrical problems have plauged it. Windows, front and rear washer fluid pumps, wipers, door ajar lights all seem to work when they feel like it. The headlights and tail lights flicker/dim as you drive down the road. I can live with all that. Recently we had total electrical failures during normal driving. The car would shut off for a split second. Engine stumbles, gauges go nuts, lights, fan and radio quit. Strange clicking sounds from the top left corner of the dash. (not always in conjunction with the engine/power failure...my wife has even heard this with the car and ignition OFF) This problem first started small, and quit when our tech. replaced some module and the ignition switch. The problem came back with a vengeance, only this time in conjunction with the ignition switch buzzing during entry/exit with the key out. Wiggling the switch does nothing during driving. Does anyone think it could still be in the switch or should I be looking elsewhere? I can't afford to have this old car chewing up my bank account, because my tech. can't find the problem. I'm concerned for my wife and kids safety here, (mainly her car) so any advice is appreciated.
