I AM SEARCHING FOR REASONABLY PRICED OBD2 SOFTWARE RECOMMENDATIONS that will work with an Elm 327 tool . If this is against forum rules, you could send the info via PM IF YOU WISH TO SHARE your suggestion.

OK, I feel like I am just splashing water instead of making waves. I currently use a plain vinilla ScanTool that does allow one to read and clear codes. It has provisions to do the better things such as read fuel tank pressure (which I feel I need to do) along with a whole bunch of nice bennies.

I tried to order one of the ScanTool software products today but before I did I contacted the company via email. Unfortunately, as I presumed, their software will only work in THEIR hardware and they would not state if it would work in mine.

My hardware is an ALL-IN-ONE USB Elm 327 tool. What I am looking for is to be able to read everything in the #$%^ car computer plus be able to solve my P0442 code my 99 Taurus proudly displays........OFTEN! My thought was if I knew the tank pressure it would be a guide in eliminating false starts to fixing the #$%^&* problem!

To ScanTool's credit, they did recommend a full up demo for their TouchScan program which I downloaded along with a 2 week valid key. But after opening the program it looks quite limited so I have not even tried it.

Well I decided against spending $200 or so and I think I will stick with the free stuff. I fixed (I HOPE!) my P0442 problem without measuring the fuel tank pressure, I guess now I can get along without spending more money. Maybe later, yeah, maybe.
