Thumbs down oh what a disaster 14 Taurus

[FONT=Palatino Linotype][SIZE=6][COLOR=DarkRed]I am new to this forum but have one thing in common a BAD FORD TAURUS. We bought it in Sept of 04 new and we have had it in every other month for repairs. They can't seem to fix anything. Let's see where to begin...A pulsation upon acceleration @40MPH. tried to fix 4 times still not fixed, a vibration in windshield on passenger side - loose stripping on roof from windshield- just now fixed, bout time, then there was this noise coming from the front driver wheel they say ??? can't find, it never had the gas milege they said either, also a severe vibration all throughout the car hmm no answer to be found?? after trying to trade on another car and talking with the Ford custermer relations person we got no help...you bought it your prob!!! is what we got. Finally after 1-1/2 weeks in the shop they say it is fixed. My goodness there were bulletons on the tire noise and a vibration could we not look this up the last time or so it was in for these problems??? Well the tire noise stopped but the vibration still persisted .They said she was fixed HMMMM again on top of that the service dept. hasn't given our work order copies for the last 2 trips sound funny??? Then on the way home besides the bad vibrationt here was some sort of electronic glitches on dash. say?????. When we bought this reliable ??? gas efficeint???, family car the only thing true in this statement was family car.So now after tough negotiations we are using the Lemon Law to get relief from this $23,000 burden Oh and have since bought a DEPENDABLE HONDA!!!

cool Re: oh what a disaster 14 Taurus

Great spelling job. Had you considered bringing the vehicle to a different dealer? You may have gotten a better result. As far as fuel economy, the advertised fuel economy is not a guaranteed number. This all depends on you driving habits. The fuel economy numbers are calculated using methods that were originaly used for emissions calculations, not fuel economy. You would have to exactly match the driving conditions of these tests to duplicate the advertised numbers. Which engine did you have? The 3.0L Vulcan or the 3.0L Duratec? My 2001 Taurus SEL 3.0L Duratec only gets around 16-17 mpg with no highway driving. Not all Tauruses are bad. Hope your Honda does ok.

Agreed, not all Tauruss are bad. I have a 1996 with over 125K with hardly any serious problems at all. It has the 3.0L Duratec and gets about 21 in the city. I drive it really hard, but I conserve gas by not gassing it up to stop signs/redlights, etc. I have gotten 33MPG on the highway with this Taurus wagon before as well, but that was a a mostly downhill stretch. :-/

I would bring it to a dealer or just get rid of it and either buy another one or something else.
