oil leak question...........

I noticed an oil leak coming from the crankshaft area of my 03 taurus. I haven't looked too closely at it yet and am hoping its just a pan gasket leak, I know I can handle replacing that, but I have yet to tackle a front seal leak. I was hoping someone on here had done this before and could give me some advice ( or point me in the direction of a nice walkthrough ) on replacing the front seal just in case it turns out to be that...........

Re: oil leak question...........

Catskinner has been extremely helpful during big project I am going through. He suggested I check out alldatadiy.com. It is the same price as the paper manual but it is constantly updated and much more user friendly I think, Just a suggestion. Good luck with it, hope it’s an easy fix!

Re: oil leak question...........

I replaced the pan on my old '99 Taurus about 5 years ago. Shops wanted ~$500 to replace it as there is 3-4hrs of labour involved. The gasket ran me some bucks and I did the work myself. Took me 3hrs, only because I let the gasket cure for 1.5hrs before adding new engine oil.
