Oil smell in car

Hi Guys,

It's been awhile since I have posted but I need your help. I have a 2000 Ford Taurus OHV V-6

I recently smelled an oil smell in the car. I am low on oil. I need an oil change which I will do tomorrow. It smells like burnt oil.

I don't have any oil spilled on the engine which might be cooking.
. I don't have any oil leaks. I don't have blue or white smoke coming from my exhaust. Is there any reason that I might have this smell.

Any and I mean any input will be appreciated and at least informative.

Thanks,
Schleprock

Hello and good day:

Do you do your own Oil Changes?, or have some one else do this for you? Why I ask is sometimes the may spill some oil on the engine ... even if you don't smell it right away, it may have been on the engine somewhere till it got hot enough.

Now other factor could be that you have Multiple problems: Worn Rings, Head Gasket starting to go, EGR Clogged somewhere in the line system. etc

But one thing is for sure you are losing oil somewhere...

You may need to consult with your Mechanic, or some that can check your car for this...
