Opening the Hood

Howdy, folks. Quick question:
When I pull my hood release from the cabin, the hood has to be pulled up and then unlatched to open. Once I lift it, it will not stay up by itself.
Is there a spring that is failing to force the hood up initially?
Would the hydraulic struts be what should hold the hood up once I lift it manually?
Thanks very much.

Re: Opening the Hood

If you mean it does not pop up enough then you need to adjust the hood latch down a bit.

The struts should hold up the hood on their own.

Re: Opening the Hood

Wash the spring off or better yet blast the dirt off around the area with compressed air (carefully), and then lube it everywhere so it pops up easily. The struts are only there to hold the hood up once you raise it. Struts do wear out over time, if you see any wet spots (signs that the cylinder may be leaking) I'd get them both replaced.
