Help guys, I just overheated my taurus its a 97. I drove it home on a slow backed up freeway and it was near the red all the way, all of a sudden it jacked to red, I was getting off the next exit when the engone lost power, then stopped before I pulled off the road. I pulled over shut her down, let her sit cam back and it spins like there are no sparkplugs in the cylinders. Meaning it spins too freely. What do I do? Did i blow my rings?

first off this is not an OFFICIAL Ford site. Members come in and help that have cars similar to yours or problems. most times I answer the questions, but have been on vacation for some time.

To answer you question....You could have blown the rings. Have you checked or should I say had your PCM scanned for codes? That is going to be the quick and easy thing to do. Autozone can check it and some of them will allow you to rent the scanner.
