Hey all,

I had the check engine light on my wife's 96 Taurus wagon. It needed a new exhaust & 02 sensors.

Exhaust from muffler tip to cat was replaced as well as 02 sensors. The check engine light was reset (unplugged the battery)

Two days later the check engine light is back on - checked the codes, they are:
1. P0136 - "Oxy Sensor Circuit (bank 1 sensor 2")
2. P1000 - Monitor Checks not complete - more driving required"

As for the p1000 - I know that came from disconnecting the battery. But what is the P0136? Is that the rear 02 sensor? If so - it's brand new and I double checked all the connections - every thing is secure & connected.

The car is a little old, and has 95,000 miles on it. Not sure why I'm still getting the P0136 - any suggestions, tips, etc.. would be highly appreciated.

I replaced the exhaust system (from the cat back) and replaced both 02 sensors.

The check engin still comes on.

I've seen this alot in the 96F150's and the fix is always the same: new computer.

There are 4 O2 Sensors on you car. 2 upstreams and 2 downstreams. There should be 1 upstream before each cat and 1 downstream after each cat.
