Hello everybody,
I'm new to the forum...but let me assure you...i bleed Ford Blue.

I just bought an 04 Taurus with the U code Vulcan engine. The car has 126,000 miles on it. 5 days after i brought it home the CEL came on. i had Auto Zone read the code as P0300 random misfire. Since that time i have changed the coil pack, plugs, and wires. While changing these parts i unplugged the battery. when everything was back together the car ran better with no CEL. The next morning was 20 degrees and the car would start, rev to 2000, then die. Took a look at the IAC Valve. It was extremely dirty on the interior and was installed with no gasket. i replaced this part as well, and this took care of my starting issues. 2 days later the CEL came back with P0300. The car runs rough on cold start, only if its below about 30 degrees...any ideas?

P300 can be a bit of a nightmare.

It can be anything from a burnt valve causing the problem (lack of cylinder compression), to a bad head gasket.

If you're lucky, it's just a vacuum leak to the intake manifold. A bad intake gasket can also be at fault.
