Passenger side leak.
Hi all, I just bought a 2003 Taurus SEL w/ the 24V DOHC and all the factory extras. The only issue I am having with it is when it rains out really hard I get a pool about 1 inch of water on the floor of the passenger side.
Now yes I did a search on this site and it returned a couple of threads of other people whom have the same problem but with diffrent cars. But really offered not much in the way of solving the problem.
I have removed the plastic peices just below the windsheild and checked the around the cabin clean air intake to see if there were any cracks around the vent or along the firewall. there wasnt so just incase I resealed it all with clear RV silicon. I also seen that there was what looks like carpet padding along the firewall. Could this be channeling the water to run down the firewall and getting inside? I imagine this padding is for noise dampaning. Now my wife also has a 2003 Taurus sel but that padding isnt there and isnt having the leak problem I have and there is no real increase of road noise without it.
Should I remove it? It really hasnt rain very hard since I silliconed it so cant tell if resealing has done any good. I really dont want to pay the expence of having the dash removed at the dealership untill I have done everything possible 1st.
Anything else to look for?
