playing MP3s in a 05 Taurus

Hey everybody,

Really quick question for a Friday: would anyone happen to know if I can use a data CD of MP3s in a Taurus, or does the CD have to be a standard audio CD? I've been trying to find information, and I can find no specs on this! I'm considering buying an '05, and if I can't play data CDs, I'll probably have to upgrade the car in some way to play them (I'd rather not have to). I'll just get the standard CD player.

Thanks in advance!!

cool Re: playing MP3s in a 05 Taurus

You cannot play from a data disc. Your cd burning software should give you the option 'make an mp3 cd'(holds a few hundred songs) or 'make a music cd'(about 18 songs). They are different formats than data discs...no car reviever reads data discs. All cd players, even 10 year old players should play a regular burned cd(buy blank cd-r discs, not blank cd-rw discs). You using a data disc suggests that you were trying to put a lot of songs on the cd which in that case you'll want to make an mp3 cd but buy new reciever that supports mp3[cd] playback. Just burn a lot of regular cd's using the 'make a music cd' option, seeng that you have adequate burning software. You can get the Nero trial version http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/nero-prog.php ....or you can 'buy' software for like $15 p.s. your name suggests you're from New York City...how come everyone's so friendly there...and I thought Canadians were cheerful.
