Okay, here's a good one for all you troubleshooters. I have a '99 Taurus with the 3.0 vulcan V6 with 92000 miles on the clock. I'm driving down the road and notice my power steering pump is whining. I stop and take off the cap and nearly all the fluid is gone. I look underneath and no leaks anywhere. I added fluid, whine goes away, steering operates normal and drive for about one hour and same thing happens. When I shut my car off, a whole lot of fluid comes shooting out of the vent hole in the cap on the pump. Messes up the whole engine compartment!. Still no leaks under the car. I add fluid again, steering works fine and drive for about 10 minutes to my home and shut off the car and the fluid again shoots out the vent hole! Has anyone seen this? The Ford service manual says nothing of course. I would think if I had a pinched hose, my steering would not function properly, but it does. I would welcome any insight into this.
