power steering squeek in 1999 sable - Ford Forums

I have a 1999 sable wagon. About two years ago the dealer replaced the power steering rack. Now when I turn the steering wheel I hear a constant squeeking noise. What is causing this?

Squeaks can happen if the fluid level is too high or too low.

Is the squeaking happening at full lock or all through the motion?

The squeek happens in full motion. It sounds like rubber rubbing against rubber. Have you had this problem before?

Check your fluid levels first off. Filling it up should quiet the noise. If it is full, it is likely that your pump is failing.

The squeeking now happens when the car is in motion with turning the wheel in either direction.
I also have a wirring/ hummng noise from the front when the car is in motion.
It happens about 80% of the time. Could the be the wheel bearings, CV joiints??
