My Taurus is doing something weird. I've been having a problem with the idle staying too high sometimes (I do know why, ICS, but it's not part of the powersteering problem). I'll shut of the key while moving along and let it restart itself to get the idle down below 2200 (usually doesn't work) but when it restarts I have no power steering. I have to come to a stop, turn off the engine and restart to get power steering back.
Why ?!?!?
There is no electrical connection involved in the power steering except for a sensor switch to boost the engine idle when parking or other tight maneuvers.
Then, Monday, I was leaving the golf course and I suddenly lost power to the power windows AND I noticed the steering was "heavy" like it had suddenly switched into "low" assist or something. When I got home I re-seated the relays in the power dist. box under the hood and all was well once again......so far.
WTF-O?
