Hi

I was wondering if premium or mid grade gasoline would improve gas mileage on my 2000 SEL with 24 V duratec engine. Currently, I get 25-26 mpg on highway. I have not monitored in city since most of my driving is on highway.

Any other advice for improving fuel effeciency.

Premium or mid-grade gas will not improve fuel ecenomy.Your fuel economy is about right for a 3.0L Duratec. I undestand gas is getting expensive (I Just saw a gas station today that was $3.35 a Gal. for regular gas!!!!!!) but if you want to improve your fuel economy a little more just drive smart.
1. Don't make drag racing type starts from a stop. This burns more gas.
2. Make sure you are in Overdrive range when drining and not Drive. Hold a consistent speed so you shift into 4th gear and your Torque Converter fully locks up and stays that way.
3. Keep your car in tune!!! A dirty air filter causes poor fuel ecenomy.
4. Don't drive around with a check engine light on, especially if it is flashing. You can cause more harm than good doing this.

Man,I would love to pay that!!!Gas just went to $5.85 a gallon for regular here in n.b canada.I think regular works just fine
