random rapid acceleration
Sudden engine RPM jumps up to 4500. Has occured while driving, stopped while in gear & while stopped in park. Ford says they can't locate a problem. Wondering where to start.... electronic. mechanical or vacuum? Does computer store this info?

The guy you need to look for is jwko he seems to be very knowledgeable about things like this.

I think you mean SHOZ123 or tbird100636. It does sound electrical though.

I had my cruise stick on a couple of occasions.

But this sounds like a PCM problem. Wonder if the '05s have the Throttle by Wire? Don't think they do.
