Relacing AC clutch Bolt - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Don't want to beat a dead horse here, but I have read post's back to 2008 with no result.
AC on my 94 Taurus cools fine, no funny noises, just the bolt that holds the compressor clutch hub is missing in action. It will periodically move outward loosing it's magnetic pull to engage, I simply use a slim item to push it back in and everthing is fine.
I can see this cannot be done with the compressor on the car. Is it possible to loosen the compressor enough( 4 bolts attaching) without removing the hose attachment on the rear of the compressor ? All I need is enough room to replace the bolt.Some posts have said he may have a NUT rather than a BOLT. DOES ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE ?, IT SURE WOULD HELP ME OUT.

I've never done it, but you might gain enough room by loosening the compressor. Have you tried jacking it up and removing the wheel to see if you'll have enough room to access it? As for a nut or bolt, stick your finger in the center hole and see if there's a stud or hole.
