hey all, i'm in need of a little info. just this week my '91 taurus started smoking from the passenger side of the engine. i read on another thread that it might be my thermostat or head gasket. i then replaced the thermostat first since it was the most cheapest and easiest. and after that the car didnt smoke for like a day, but....... the day after, i was driving normaly and the engine oil pressure light turns on, (thats never happen before) and the smoke comes back.

Is it a blown head gasket or something worst. and if it is a gasket is there a sealant that i can drop into it to stop it from smoking?

i have always taken good care of my car and just was wondering if its worth repaireing or is it time to say goodbye to my taurus.

Your oil light is telling you your oil is low .. most likely an oil leak dripping on the exhaust manifold. My guess is either a valve cover gasket or an intake manifold gasket (both are reasonably cheap fixes). If you drive the car with low oil for more than 10 minutes, you can kiss your engine goodbye.

they said that its a front crankcase oil seal thats leaking, and like gary said its hitting the exhaust.
midas said it would be about $170 to fix, that seems a little bit expencive, or im i the only one that thinks so.
in the repair manual the work seems pretty easy.

what do ya'll think???

my bad its not the crankcase seal its just the oil pan leaking..... so should that be easy enough to fix.?????
