Hi, all. I have a problem with my 02 sable. Checking engine light illuminated this afternoon. I went to autozone and they helped me to read code out:
P0456 EVAP Leak Monitor Small Leak Detected.

Did anyone meet this problem before? And what reason could this be? Thank you.

Get yourself a subscription to Alldata or Mitchell on line and follow the diagnostic procedure to locate the leak. It's usually a vacuum hose or a purge canister solenoid. But you'll need vacuum diagrams and wiring diagrams to scout it out.

Might just be the gas cap. Take it off and clean the sealing surfaces of the cap and the filler neck.

Thanks for the comments. I took off the gas cap and retightened it. Now I need to clear the signal. But how? Just disconnect the battery and wait for few minutes?

Yes, generally 15 seconds is enough. Press the brake to be sure.

Did you wipe down the sealing surfaces of the gas cap?
