confused squeaking sound: suspension?

For the last couple of months my 2000 Taurus wagon has had a squeaking sound coming from the front left side. It sounds when I go over a speed bumps, and when I'm going slowly and then turn left. I'm hoping someone has some info about this. And, I'm hoping it's just a matter of lubricating something. Thanks.

Re: squeaking sound: suspension?

Can you get it to make noise setting still and rocking the suspension up and down? If you can, maybe you can pinpoint the location.

Re: squeaking sound: suspension?

thanks, jwko and rtg143, for the quick reply

rtg143: when I rock the car at the driver's side/front--while the engine is off, the parking brake is engaged, and the car is parked a street with a slight decline--I don't hear anything like the sound that I'm asking about; I also tried the passenger's side

I really appreciate any help

jc

Re: squeaking sound: suspension?

Does it seem like you'd have to rock it sharper (quicker) to have it make the noise. Maybe faster rocking. I've had some that the only way to get the noise was to drive it. We had some (Magic?) ears to connect sound pickup clips in various locations to pinpoint the location. Then narrow it down to the culprit.
