Taurus 2002 transmission slips on corners

I just purchased a 2002 Taurus station wagon with less than 74K miles. I notice that when I make left turns while accelerating the transmission appears as if it was not in gear. The engine revs up.

This only happens ....so far at least... when turning left. Fluid looks OK both from color and quantity.

Is this unusual??? Ideas??

Thanks

It may have a loose filter in the pan, but hard to say. Has the trans been serviced? How clean does the fluid look?

Geez Bert, I don't know if it was ever serviced. I just purchased the car. The car is far from perfect but the price was right and it has low mileage (73K). Next year I can look back and know if it really was a good deal....let you know then. The fluid looks clean. I guess the best thing for me to do is have the fluid and filter changed.

The first things I am cleared included new front tires, just changed the front brake pads, outer right tie rod end. As I type I am pondering whether or not to try changing the ball joints. It is a poooor holiday weekend here in Massachusetts so there is a good chance I will get into the ball joints before the day ends.
