Hi everyone first post on here my real name is ian.I live in australia
we have just got ourselves a taurus ghia the only issue we have is that when we pull up at a stop sign or lights the auto goes into nautral and i need to put it into park and than select drive to get going.
Otherwise it is ok shifts great and does not slip at all.

Any help would be great.

Check the linkage to see if a bushing or something similar is loose. The torque of the engine may be pulling the linkage out of gear.

i will check it but it feels ok when shifting.
Thinking it maybe a shift valve.

i have found out that if you dont use overdrive it is ok so it appears to be in the shift valve area.
