How do I replace the transmission bulkhead connector on a 2002 Taurus? Mine is corroded and is causing the transmission to shift roughly.

Have you tried cleaning the pins and putting di-electric grease on them? Also, post a picture of the connector so we know exactly which one you mean.

The mechanic said some of the pins were gone and one was bent. The corroded part is the part mounted on the transmission case.

The only way without replacing the whole harness would be to get one from a wrecking yard by cutting the harnesses on either side of the harness and soldering them back in putting di-electric on them. You could also use shrink tube butt connectors and mae sure the grease is on every wire inserted in the butt connectors. Beside the pins on the main connector so it doesn't happen again.

The harness is okay. I need to replace the bulkhead connector that is connected directly to the transmission casing. Is that difficult to do?
