Hi, I recently got a keyless enrt transmitter for my '97 gl and i can't get it to work. i followed the programming instuctions. cycling from "off to run" 5 times.
by "run" i started the car up back and forth 5 times. assuming that is the right way. but nothing happens. What am i doin wrong?

Your not supposed to start the vehicle up, your only suposed to roll the key to the run postion before the start position. Just turn it enough until the key click into the position where the warning lights and accesories turn on.

I tried that too but nothing happend as well. i might need to locate the device that makes it work

Are you sure it had factory keyless entry to begin with??? Don't know on your year if it was an option on a GL. Under the left side of the dash to the right of the steering column would be where the RAP Module would be located if it had it. There should be a set of relays there too. If there is a mdule to the right of these relays then you have factory RKE.

I am having the same problem. I thought the module on a 97 V6 was in the trunk, on the drivers side. Behind the trim. My instructions said to look for a small connector in the loom that isn't connected to anything. Help.

no the module is under the steering coulmn behind the top of the gas petal

Cycle the key from Off to Run 8 times within 10 seconds ending in the On position.
