Weird Stall problem on Taurus
I have an 88 ford taurus that my father in law gave me. He stated at start up the car would stall after a couple of seconds, will start right back up, then stall again.,after that the car ran like a dream. We tried replacing the tfi module, but the problem is still there. He gave me the car about 3-4 months ago, I let it sit in my garage since. Now I need the car to commute to work, It does the same thing except it takes about 5- 6 times to keep it running on it's own. Might run for a minute or two in between that time but will stall. After the 5th or 6th , it will stay on with a lil hesitation. But once warm it runs fine. I can get it to normal operating temp, shut it off and then when I restart, I'll go through the 5-6 times of stalls even with the car warmed up. I knew the tfi problem was only when warmed up but I felt I had to give it a try. I know my options are air (which seems fine) ignition (tfi replaced, not sure what else to check) and gas (pressure , need to buy pressure gauge to check out, but if the pump was the problem, wouldn't the problem be more consistant?)
Any advice??????
I'd really hate to get rid of this car.,.,is was extremely well maintained and has only 70,000 miles on it (babied miles at that)
It has the 3.8L engine in it
