Hey Guys I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 V6.

Changing my trans filter and I need to know if I can use brake parts cleaner to clean out the inside of filter pan or should I use some kind of degreaser/solvent.

I just saw some video on Youtube and the dude cleaned off the magnet and I don't know if he wiped down the inside of the pan or cleaned it out.

I'm sure they'll find something wrong with it, but I've used gasoline on a rag to clean the inside of the pan

Yes, you can use brake cleaner or carb. cleaner to clean the inside of the trans. pan. Just wipe it dry after wiping the dirt out.


DO NOT GET ANY BRAKE CLEANER OR CARBURETOR CLEANER IN YOU WASTE OIL/WASTE TRANSMISSION FLUID!!! HUGE EPA FINE TO WHOEVER DIPOSES OF IT.
