Does anyone know where the fuel pump relay is located and how to check if its good without dropping the fuel tank (according to Haynes manual)? My taurus won't start; verified spark ok; I don't hear the fuel pump when ignition key is on; Thank you in advance.

It's located in your fuse panel underneath the hood by the battery. The cover should tell you which is for the fuel pump. They are real cheap, so you might as well just try replacing it instead of testing it. You could test it though by applying +12V and ground to the terminals, and than +12 again on the switch to see if it clicks. Good luck.

I still cannot find the fuse panel underneath the hood that you are refering to next to the battery. The only fuse panel I see is underneath the steering columm. Please clarify your directions. Thanks

I found the relay. It's located above the radiator and underneath the shroud; the relay is inside a black metal (module) box combined with about 4 other relays ( the dealer says) with a single connector attached; It's hard to test it because there are no screws to open the box; The dealer wants $125 for the module. The salvage wants $50. Should I take the chance at it or go the other and drop the fuel tank to test for voltage to the pump?

I read your letter since I have the same exact problem with my 88 FORD TAURUS v6 wagon.
I took down my tank since I thought the fuel pump had died. When I apply battery voltage directly to the fule pump terminals, it works fine. The inertia swich in the rear panel is also good. The fuel pump is just not getting electricity. I still can't seem to find the relay that you mentioned ?
I find no fuse in the fuse panel for the fuel pump. Can you help me out ?

Hope this information is helpful to someone else since it was hard work taking down the gas tank for no reason. Thank you ,abraham19
