02 Mustang Starts then Dies - Ford Forums

I have an 02 mustang w/ V6 that over time more and more frequently has developed a problem when starting. It'll start fine at times and other times it will start and immediately die when you let go of the key. If I give the car a little gas it'll stay running. In the past after maybe 30 seconds of that it would rev a bit and begin idling on its own. now i've held it at times a few minutes and it never has started to idle on its own. If I keep it running and get into drive and drive a few minutes it runs ok. at times i can start it with no problems at all so i'm puzzled. I thought at first it was happening when i'd start the car with the blower running but now its done it without that so i'm confused. any help is appreciated

when was the fuel filter changed ? possible plugged filter

He's right. Check your fuel filter. Also, you may have a plugged EGR or PCV valve.
Before you go throwing parts at this, I'd strongly recommend you take it to a reputable mechanic and have him diagnose it. You can do the work yourself, but have a professional diagnose the problem- half the time, you'll save money by not guessing at what's wrong.
