$18,000 Shelby GT500. Should I buy it? - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I have come across a 67 Shelby Mustang GT500 that is for sale for $18,000.
This car has nothing wrong with it. I have seen the pictures and the owner tells me that there is no rust, no scratches and is in imaculate order. He needs to sell it ASAP and he want to get rid of it as soon as he can.
It is over seas so he is willing to pay for shipping payments by AIR not by sea and then have it trucked to my door step. Whats more, he can have it on a plane within 12-18hrs and have it in my driveway within a week!

Should I be jumping at this chance to have a SHELBY!? I think that I am getting one of the best deal EVER! I am just wanting your views on this matter. I can only think that there will only be about a max of 5 shelby GT500's in NZ. NZ is where I live.

And before you ask, yes it is a genuine Shelby GT500 with about 99% of the car having oringinal parts.

I can't believe this find!

I s**t you not! This car is being sold for 18G. I will do some investgation with the bank on Monday and get back to you on a verdict.

These cars sell for over 100,000 au. I bet it goes like yea you send me the money and ill send you the car by plane you'll have it in like 24 hours. Dude to ship a 15,oo kg car would cost hmmm 10,ooo dollars one would think.

Yes I know but he said that all he needed was a deposit of $2,000 USD and he would ship it to me and then when I received the car I could pay the rest.
The car is his brothers and he died 2 weeks ago in a motorbike accident in Portugal and he wants to get back to the US so that is why he is selling it so cheap. He doesnt want anything to do with the car.
So my guess is that is why he wants to pay for the shipment. Im not complaining.
I think I will have a nice talk to the bank on Monday.

ok first thing is first. you said it is over seas...where over seas? is this 18k in foreign currency to you? ie US$$$? where is it advertised? asking because is it a reputable advertiser or is it some dodgey thing? is there any chance that it is all just one big con?? you pay the money and thats the last you see of it. sorry to put a negative on such a find but i would be very sceptical indeed as to the authenticity and actually receiving anything at all. why does he want to get rid of it ASAP? id be asking for proof that it is geniune and also some legal proof that he is who he is so you can track him down if he is just conning you.

Now that plane ticket sounds good! But yes I am a bit sceptical on this find. However in saying that he has a company that sells rugs and I have been to his web site. I will also get as much details as I can get out of him, eg. home phone and give him a ring there and see if he is who he say he is. He advertised it as wanting $9,000USD so that works out the be about $18,000NZD over here. I will look more into it and then post it back on here on how everything goes. By the looks of it though, he sounds quite genuine and I have looked at his record on a few web sites and he is a rather good person to deal according to the web site that I am looking at.

youll find for 18k youll get a heap of change as the exchange rate isnt 50cents....its more like 80cents or something. havent checked for a while but 18k is more than enough. cars arent worth anything in the US as dad gave me a few examples the other day. 1 took my fancy and this is car yard prices too. 1999 5.0 GT Mustang convertable 45000 miles fully loaded, immac $6990 USD. not bad really. and since he lives in the states it makes it alot easier for me to buy from there and get him to send it over.
