I'm looking at buying a 1990 Mustang 5.0 with an automatic the only problem with it is that the gears slip, what could be some of the problems?

Could be low on fluid or needing a filter and service, but with it being driven like that, whatever the cause, it'll wear the friction material off if it's driven like that very long. Probably needs an overhaul.

Not sure how it was driven but was thinking of getting a rebuilt trans for it. Anyone know a good place to order one from?
