1995 mustang GT fuel pick up problem

This has happened twice. Once I get the car started, it runs fine. The first time I had maybe 1/8 tank of gas and I was parked on a hill. I let it roll down to a flat spot of the parking lot and it cranked fine. The next time I was parked flat and had 1/4 tank of fuel. To get it cranked, I had to bounce the back of the car up and down. I feel like it's not picking up the fuel. The pump comes on and pumps up and shuts off. I have changed the fuel filter on the frame about a year ago. Is there a filter inside the tank?

There is a small screen inside the tank- but should not obstruct pumping capability unless you have a very dirty tank. You can check fuel pressure. I would think if it was the pump- you would have problems during acceleration and other drivability issues.

Keep your tank full and monitor symptoms when it is full. Check your gauge- maybe it isn't accurate.
