1997 mustang v6 engine swap to a v8 help..

i have a 97 mustang v6 and i want to put a v8 into it money or parts is not a problem. i work at a junk yard and we just got 99 and a 01 mustang v8 in today. people tell me i can not make this work but i have proved people wrong before since they said i could not put a v6 98 engine in a 97 due to differnt wiring connections but i made it work with no problems. what i want to know is if the connection to the computer is the same or differnt and if it is the same is the a color difference. if so then i know my cluster will not work i will have to get a aftermarket cluster. but if there is no difference then i am fine. but i am unaware if there is a difference and i will not know if there is until i swap the engine but i do not want to go through all that work and the connection be different. has anybody here done this type of engine swap and can you help me by letting me know if the connection is the same or different. also just selling my car and getting a v8 is not a option..
