confused 2000 ford mustang v6 engine sound!??!

Im thinking of purchasing a 2000 ford mustang v6, i fell in love with how the car looks, and i love fords, but there is a engine sound that im not sure about, i dont know if its normal or if its bad. can someone please help me!

this is the sound as best as i can describe... its a manual, but when i push on the gas it makes a sound like a old volkswagon, kinda like a steady putt putt putt noise, do you know what i mean? you know when an old volkswagon car or bus goes by and it sounds all pitter patter, like a rubber band is powering it, thats how this car sounds. i dont know if its bad or normal, it seems to run okay, when i turn the key off it still goes for like a second then dies...... please tell me if this is normal or something bad before i buy, thank you everyone!!!

It doesn't sound like anything normal to me.

The way you describe , it sounds like and exhaust manifold leak.

With the sound you are describing along with the delay in the car's engine to stop running after turning the key into the off position. It could be as simple as a taking the car in for a complete tune-up or a exhaust manifold leak or both. But not normal at all.
