2000 v6 mustang loud metal on metal noise

it started off not very loud and spaced apart, and within a matter of 30 minutes it started making the noise whether u were stopped, not stopped, had the clutch pushed in, not pushed in, it didn't matter what gear i was in(including neutral). by the time i was able to get home the noise was very VERY loud and it sounds like metal on metal. any answers?

Hard to diagnose without hearing it but check alternator and water pump for possible bearing failure .
