hi,
i have a problem with my 02 mustang with a 3.8
the engine light came on and the car has a rough idle and it is obviously down on power. it seems to be miss firing.. i have changed the spark plugs and the wires and it did not change anything. So i hooked up the scanner and found out that there were 4 codes. miss firing at 1000 revs. also miss fire on 1, 2, and 6 cylinder. codes are PO316, PO301, PO302, and PO306.
the car has recently had the oil changed and it has about 65000 miles on it..
anybody else experience these problems and know what the fix is.

have you checked the plug wires?

Try using seafoam. It will clean any build up that might have not burned off. You can get it at any local autoparts store. My car was doing the same after changing plugs and wires and I was told to use it and it worked for me.

Sorry to bring this post back from the dead, but I'm having a very similiar problem on my mustang. What is this seafoam you speak of? In my situation, the wires and plugs have been changed, and its still throwing a PO301 and driving me absolutely NUTS.

Seafoam is at your local parts store. It will clean everything through your engine. without damage. you insert liquid through a vaccum line make sure to have the throttle at about 1000 rpms while inserting the seafoam. The car will smoke while insertion of the seafoam. You can place seafoam in the gas as well as the oil. This product works wonders.
