It started with driving about 45 mile up the highway then coming to a red light. When the light changed and I put my foot on the accelerator it did not respond for a few seconds then lunged forward without changing the pressure on the accelerator. As time progressed there was no longer a pattern other than stopping at a red light for a few minutes. Accelerator, no response, lunge. What causes this and has anyone else noticed it. I have found it on old ford ranges and probes but not mustang.

After coming to a stop from a highway type cruise, some vehicles may experience a hesitation when the customer begins to accelerate. Air bubbles can form around the fuel pump during a long cruise and be ingested into the pump on acceleration causing a hesitation....This is not the only issue. After talking to other 05-06 Mustang owners the car does not only hesitate is accelerates excessively after the hesitation and it is not always after driving highway speeds. Although Ford know about the problem, if you don't report it every time it happens then WHEN it causes and accident they will not be held responsible.
