255/50/17 tires on a stock 08 GT rim?

Looking at getting a little larger foot print with the stock 17" rims.
Two tires I have been looking at are
Nitto 555 255/50/17
Kuhmo Ecsta ASX 255/50/17

As these are a little larger than the P Zero stock tires (235/55/17) will they be an improvement?

Define "improvement". A lower sidewall height will generally give you better handling, but you lose some comfort. Best bet is to go to the reviews and see what previous buyers have to say about them.

Thanks I did and I think I have found a set well matched for my daily driving habits. Nitto Invo 255/50/17? Good wet traction, very good dry traction, and quite. Not bad looking either
