So my dad's friends in Winnipeg has a 79 mustang fastback. Well his wife has been driving it work everyday and finally parked it and he gave it to me. Well getting there, a long trip from BC, we came to find a lot of interesting things. First of all we went to get a temporary tag to bring it back home and found an error in the Vin from the car to paper, on paper it was marked as an 8 car but it turns out it was just a 6 banger. Someone went to a lot of trouble into making this a cobra mustang right down to the tire caps and declining. But with that sorted out , we went on to get it running again to drive it home. opening the hood we come to find that the 5 litter engine might be a motosport engine...but we never did find out for sure if it was, so anyone know how to know besides the valve covers being marked. The fun thing was every time the car saw daylight from the dark garage it would spring a leak. But we finally did get it home. Another bad luck, the day after finding the critical cancer on the pannel around the control arms, which we are thinking just to weld a plate in there after getting rid of the rust, someone took the mirrors off while it was parked at my friends condo.

I had a 79 Cobra back in the mid 80's. 302 was a 2bbl with C4 trans. 140hp. TRX Michlins on the factory aluminum rims. Car was white with tan leather interior. Hood scoop and that big Cobra decal on the hood. "Cobra" stickers and 5.0 emblems on the sides. Engine code was a "F" for the 2v 140 horse 302. I'd start with the vin decipher. There is a ton of info and websites on the 79 Mustang Cobras on the net.
