83convertible

Can anyone tell me if the engine and trany (5.0) out of a 87 lincoln cont. is the same motor as the mustang 5.0. Will it fit into a 83 mustang. I would like to put the fuel injection into the mustang If i could. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a 1987 Lincoln, go for it. It has basically the same equipment as your '83, as far as pistons, rods, and crank, but it'd be a good basis upon which to do an EFI conversion.

However, if you can access a 1987-1992 Mustang 5.0, you'll be in MUCH better shape, as it has forged pistons with valve reliefs, better cam, better heads, better throttle body, etc.
