93 Ford Mustang 4cyl problems

Hello all,

The nuts and bolts of the problem is that I have difficulty getting the car to move when I put it into Drive. Its an automatic. I have to rev the car to about 2500-3000 rpms to get it to start moving. I had to get my car towed last night and so I had my e-brake up. Is there a possibility that my e-brake got stuck? The weird thing is that reverse works no problem. It doesn't hesitate or anything. Maybe could it be low on transmission fluids? Please help. I need this car for tomorrow.

Have you checked the trans fluid?

Why was the car towed??

Re: 93 Ford Mustang 4cyl problems

One of the spark plugs blew out and was separated from the thread. It was caused by a bad spark wire. Unfortunately the owner (my dad) never really took good care of it and never changed the spark wires. So we were changing them out and one of the wires broke. So we did a quick fix and put it back together, yes very bad. I have since replaced all wires with new ones. Why I decided to put the e-brake on I have no idea. I was in park already. I checked the trans fluid and it was pretty low. I added about a 1/4 of a quart because I didn't want to over fill it, but I guess its not enough. Is there a big possibility of it just not having enough fluid?

I tried checking the fluid, and it looks normal after letting the engine warm up

Re: 93 Ford Mustang 4cyl problems

If it has been neglected, it could be a number of things. Is the fluid pink or brown?

Might have to get a mechanic to go over the engine/g'box...

Re: 93 Ford Mustang 4cyl problems

Its been a bit neglected, but has run without problems until recently. The egine idles fine, and like I said, it can go into reverse no problem, but going forward in any gear is like driving in slow motion. Is there still the possibility of it needing to be looked at or could it be a simple vacuum line or something.

Re: 93 Ford Mustang 4cyl problems

I checked the color of the fluid. It is pink, the way it should be and the level is normal. I am guessing it is a stuck e-brake because I put it on tighter and now it doesn't go at all. Does anyone have a rough idea on how much that costs?

Problem may not be in the cable, may be in the brakes... can you pull a wheel off to have a squiz??? Is it disc or drum??
